Ujjain is well connected by rail and road, with Indore's airport an hour and a half away.

Beyond Ujjain
Omkareshwar
The second Jyotirlinga of Madhya Pradesh, on an island in the Narmada. About 140 km from Ujjain, 3 to 3.5 hours by road via Indore. Visit both Omkareshwar and Mamleshwar temples; together they complete the darshan.
Indore
The nearest big city, 55 km away, with the airport and the widest choice of hotels. Many pilgrims stay here and travel to Ujjain for the day.
Panchkoshi Yatra
A 118 km walk around Ujjain's four guardian shrines, held in Vaishakh. It takes about five days on foot, with rest stops along the route.

- Do: Ask before photographing sadhus or entering Akhara camps.
- Do: Book Bhasma Aarti only on the temple's official website or counter.
- Don't: Don't carry plastic bags or bottles into the river area.
- Don't: Don't cross a procession route on Shahi Snan days.
- Don't: Don't pay agents for "guaranteed" darshan or tent passes.
